“This is the only song that I wrote on my own in this album, and it precedes even the collection from the first album. I had recorded it before with Alyph’s raw beats, and Syarif on the back-up vocals. Naufal from Psykes had helped with the recording at my house in Singapore. It marked a dark period for me that I had gone through towards the end of 2006 when a fall-out with a friend had a ripple effect within my circle of friends.
The original recording appeared heavily Hiphop but I wanted it to fit into the Punca Dan Tindakan mould. Early 2009, my arranger, Rafik and the guitarist, Ujang, decided to give it a dark Oriental treatment. We took cues from Sade’s ‘Haunt Me’ (Stronger Than Pride - 1988) and the soundtrack of the movie ‘Himalaya’ to achieve what turned out to be the most honest song in the album.
At the studio, we were so moved by the end-result of the recording that it prompted us to record the acoustic versions of ‘Jika Engkau Pergi’ on the same day.
Clips of the song were used in ‘Hadi’ (Astro), ‘Tiupan Sengkakala’ (TV3) and most well received in the last episode of ‘Sewa’ (Mediacorp Suria). “
